I had a old table sitting in the basement collecting dust. In the dinning room I had an old 70's ugly oval table. I never liked it much and usually kept it covered with a table cloth!! SO I decided to swap the tables out, but I had wanted a farm table with a rustic look, so my kids and I decided to go out and tear down some pallets to use for the top of the table. I showed the kids how to help with cutting the boards and then sand them down. After those were done, we brought the table up stairs and nailed the boards in place, (well the kids did) Then we painted it then distressed it a bit. Then I went over the top with a stain wash. Now every time I walk into the dinning room and see my family table I can't help but sigh and smile. This is a piece I will forever cherish, because we as a family built it!

Torre McGregor Frasier on Nov 20, 2013very nice! I own an original antique Farm table. What is interesting is that parts of mine were put together with square head nails. You did a beautiful job!!

Sherry LaSota on Dec 02, 2013Good job! Now will you sand and polish? Or, are you leaving it rustic? Love it!
