Thrifty Christmas Wreath

5 Materials
A Christmas kitchen wreath from thrift store finds or things you already have.
I started with a wreath from the thrift store that was less than $2.00.
This project started with a wreath from the thrift store that was under $2.00. I wanted to do a Christmas baking theme for the kitchen. I shopped my home and found these gingerbread pins that my kiddos have given to me over the years.
The gingerbread people are all different in size and material. To give them a similar look I took some plaid fabric to make some little clothes for them.
These vintage tart tins came from the Goodwill last year and will fit in nicely with the baking theme.
I painted the round portion of the inside with some red paint and let them dry.
When my file folders wear out I save them. They make a great sturdy backing for some of my paper projects. These little cookie trees were punched from a small piece of a brown folder and just a little school glue to hold them in place.
I wanted some red berries to add but all I had was gold so more red paint took care of that.
I attached the gingerbread people and tart tins with hot glue directly to the wreath. If you want something not so permanent though you could hot glue wire or twine to the back of your decorations and attach them to the wreath and that way they can be removed easily.
Looking for some contrast to all the green on the wreath, I used some old faux greens leftover from another project and dipped them in paint. It was messy but they dried well overnight and turned out looking just as I had hoped.
The berries and paint dipped greens are just stuck into the wreath with the stem. Next I added some old wooden spoons gathered with 2 plaid place mats that were no longer being used (napkins would work well too) and tied them to the wreath with some twine. I think it makes a fun bow!!
And that's it! I am loving how it turned out and it cost me under $2.00 , basically the price of the wreath and I used things to decorate it that I already had :)
