And the Stockings Were Hung...

This is one of the first houses we've ever lived in that we haven't had a fireplace and I miss it sooo much!! Not just the coziness of it since we now live in a state where we get some snow every year, but Christmas is my favorite time of year and I LOVE decorating a mantle. Last year I hung them from a shelf of a bookcase and that just looked silly and out of place, so this year I was determined to make them a home of their own!!
I hit the jackpot one day a few months back when I went to a cabinet shop that was selling cabinet doors, sides, drawers, etc., for like $1 and $2 each! I racked up!! Anyway, this is the longest cabinet door I could find and I knew this was it. I had purchased a few months back a pole with hooks on it, just waiting for the right thing to do with it.
Then I printed out the words I wanted on my Cricut and used them like a traced around them with a white sewing pencil before peeling off the vinyl and filling it in with white Acrylic paint. The other little icons are just pieces of other stencils that I already had on hand.
I then sanded down the edges and over the front and lettering to distress it just a little and used a sponge brush and put on two coats of Triple Thick polyurethane. And my husband attacked the bar to it and put a hanging wire on the back and that was it! MY stockings are as happy as they used to be!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
