A Blue Velvet Dresser Transformation!

5 Materials
This dresser was hidden behind a ton of stuff at a thrift store. The second I saw it, I knew it was destined to come home with me! It was dark and damaged but still beautiful.
The piece was in relatively good working order but had some issues. All of the hardware was missing.
I decided to go ahead and fill the original holes and drill new ones for new drawer pulls. When filling holes, it takes a lot of filling and sanding before they are ready to paint.
The veneer was peeling in places, which needed wood filler and carpenters glue to fix. I also needed to use glue inside the drawers where the dovetail joints were separating.
I used DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint - what a gorgeous blue! Sanding it back and applying wax created a super smooth finish.
I love how the paint changes in the light from a deeper to lighter hue - like velvet!
The details were lightly distressed and they now stand out against the deep blue.
I purchased the new drawer pulls from Home Depot and feel they complement the piece beautifully.

Another piece I did that was transformed with new hardware was the Midnight Sideboard. The glass pulls really made the piece! Midnight Sideboard Before and After
My latest "Before and After"!
