Used bead board to cover the old cabinet. Because there was little room for trim, I used 1/4" wood sticks. Complete project was done with liquid nails. No mittering. Just cut edging and used wood plastic to cover any lines or gaps.
Measured and had Home Depot cut my bead board. Liquid Nailed it onto old cabinet and when dry measured for 1/4" wood and liquid nailed it around the bead board. Filled in with wood plastic where necessary. No mittering necessary.
Drilled new holes for handles, painted, and all done.

Just liquid nails the bead board on top and clamp. When dry liquid nail the small wood strips which I got at a craft store.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Is this wooden bead board or the plastic laminate. I was thinking the plastic would be easier to keep clean.
Love the finished look, you did a great job! Did you take the decorative trim off of the original cabinet, or just put the solid beadboard over the top? Did you replace the hinges? Looks like they were originally painted (as mine are), but look black in the finished pic. Great idea, thanks so much for sharing~just help me with some of the detail!!
Do you have photos of the in between?
