DIY Faux Reclaimed Wood Waterfall Benches

I wanted waterfall benches that looked like the West Elm Emmerson benches without the price tag. So, I decided to build my own! The entire thing is constructed with pine, but I stained the boards different colors to give them more of a reclaimed, rustic look. The main premise was to create a sturdy base from 2x4s and then to "plate" it with the stained wood (1x4"s).

I used a kreg jig to create the top of the bench. Measurements could be adjusted, but I made it the size that I wanted with 3 extra cross beams. These are for stability but also will allow the 1x4" wood covering to have somewhere to screw into.

These are the legs of the base. They are just 2x4s screwed together to create 2 rectangles.

I wanted big black screws to continue with the rustic look.
