Pallet Swing

I've seen quite a few pallet swing projects that use extra wood in addition to the pallet wood; however, this swing only uses the wood from two pallets.
Please keep in mind that no two pallets are the same so the wood on the pallets that you use will be different from the pallets featured in this post.

My husband brought these two pallets home from the warehouse where he works.
I decided to make this swing the size of a crib mattress since the mattress is waterproof.

I measured the size of the mattress and cut off the excess pallet.
Reinforce the front of the swing using the long piece of wood you removed.
Place the second pallet/back behind the first pallet/seat and mark how high you would like the back of the swing to be.
Remove the wood from the back of the second pallet. This will lighten the weight.
Cut the excess wood from the second pallet/back of the swing.
To make the top of the backrest rounded, use the lid of a can to trace a half circle. Using a jig saw, cut the top into a rounded shape.
Place the second pallet/back rest against the edge of the first pallet/seat and screw together using 3" screws. For additional support, use longer pieces of wood around the entire edge of the first pallet/seat.
Sand the entire swing.
Stain or paint.
To hang the swing, begin by inserting four eye bolts into the front and back of the seat.
Using carabiners, attach the short pieces of chain to the eye bolts.
Insert two eye bolts into an overhead joist where the swing will hang.
Using carabiners, attach the long pieces of chain to the eye bolts in the joists.
Using another carabiner, attach the two pieces of shorter chain to form a "Y" at each side of the swing.
Attach the "Y" to the long pieces of chain to hang the swing.
Cover the mattress with a crib sheet, add a crib skirt for extra pretty, throw on some pillows and enjoy your new swing.
