I just gave away a Christmas Cactus that is over thirty years old. It was just to big for me to move in and out of the house. I did get some starts from it. The person I gave it to would only take it ,until I told her how to get it to bloom. I also saw on Home Talk other people have that problem.
I brought this Christmas cactus in the house three weeks ago. It was all green no buds at all .First you put your cactus out side in the summer to get morning sun ,and afternoon shade .If the cactus dirt needs changing I re pot and put fresh potting mix in in June. then I water it in with VF 11. Some times I get blooms with in three weeks after doing that. ,but some times nothing. Then when you have night time lows in the 40's for a week or sow. I bring the plant in
I then give it a drink of VF 11 I get this at Fred Meyers .$7.99 for what you see.
With in days you will see little round nubs start to develop ,they will get bigger and bigger so fast. Oh I also get VF 11 at Amazon. I wanted to tell you that Fred Meyer's is a Kroger store. So check for it at Kroger's in garden section.
Ok this is the big pay off I have it on a table by a floor lamp. I keep turning it ,because one side will bloom out faster than the other side. In these pictures the first picture you saw was of this plant, just the other side. Good luck I hole this helps you re boom your plant. I got this for Christmas cactus from my neighbor in 2014, it was in a little 4 inch pot, when I got it. These are a cactus they don't need much water . I don't water this one for three weeks before I bring it in the house, for the winter. Then it get's the VF11 drink. Just follow the directions on the bottle of the plant food.
