This pool patio was in need of an update. The old paver blocks were settling unevenly and the landscaping needed an facelift. Removing the entire patio and replacing it with a more modern look was the course of action chosen. Adding some Evergreens behind the pool for screening creates the perfect secluded feeling a backyard patio needs. Once the water feature was installed this backyard became an oasis for relaxation.
The old patio. This patio served its purpose but was an outdated look that did not match the house at all. It would all be removed and replaced with a much more appropriate surface material.
The old seating area. This protective pool fencing would need to be relocated to the edge of the yard in order to provide space for the water feature and create a more open and natural feeling.
With the old patio removed the new Unilock paver stones can be installed.
Carlos, the lead mason, takes a break from installing the decorative border to smile for the camera.
Decorative borders make a big difference when designing patio surfaces. When used properly they lend a simple elegant touch.

A closer look at the water feature from poolside. The new seating area looks much more inviting than the old one, that’s for sure!
This seating alcove makes the area surrounding the pool look larger and uncluttered.
The new evergreen screening along the rear of the pool creates a great private space. Colorful perennial landscaping provides a vibrant backdrop all summer long. When the sun goes down these tiki lights will light the way. Whether they are used for their low voltage lamp that shines down on the the patio or the dancing flame of the tiki lamp above, either way they provide an elegant night time atmosphere.
Planting boxes built into the deck provide a great spot to highlight some of the annual plantings that are also included in the landscaping beds around the pool.
