One of the things I LOVE to do is take another person's trash and turn it into something beautiful! My motto is reduce, reuse and recycle. YOU CAN do it too!
Always look at found objects for not what they are..but what they CAN be. I give you my planter chairs....
One of a pair that I found by a dumpster
One had a cushion..the other one did not. Looked like they had "started" a project and gave it up. So that made my job a LOT easier!
The first thing I ALWAYS do after checking the integrity of the chair is a light sand (if needed) fill any holes with wood putty and then give it a coat of KILZ primer. It is the perfect equalizer. Luckily this pair is already sold to the winery down the street. She "custom ordered" the colors she wants. The blue is to match her home and the grapes will be purple "merlot"
Since its too dang cold to paint right now....the above project is on temporary hold. (plus Im busy inside painting the house/see other posts) But thought you'd enjoy the others I have finished and sold....(I will NEVER again try to glue "things" on! The poly makes it dang never impossible to stay stuck)
This was a fun one to do because it was so simple. Black paint and stencil. The inside basket (coconut fiber) I simply used the entire plant hanger and attached with the chain to the chair!
I went multicolor and stencil crazy on this one! ALL were done with acrylic craft paint. Sometimes two or three coats to get the look I was after. This is where horading comes in! I have trays of color and they are inexpensive at WalMart ($1 or less) Stencils I have always bought at yard sales. I also used wood scraps to attach the coconut baskets with two screws x 4 corners. This way when the coconut fiber is done at the end of the year I can remove and replace!

ALL CHAIRS were sealed with 3 coats of spray on Poly! IF your chairs are outside you MUST DO this!!!! (afterwards my chairs have lasted in snow and rain for about 10 years)

This is the chair in storage now....No coconut and I WILL be taking those dang jewels off Im sorry to say. They wont stick to the poly and I have tried EVERY glue!
