A New Paint on An Old Dresser

- I had a new paint to try and wanted a Mid Century Modern dresser to put it to the test
- These dressers are nothing special, they were mass produced in the 1950's using plywood and a thin veneer.
- However, they are great to work on and bring back to life
- The varnish on this dresser was thick and dirty, I stripped it all off so I could start with a clean canvas
- There is an exciting new paint on the block. It is the brain child of Paige of The Chippy Barn and her Father Trent
- An acrylic based paint with no chalk, no clay and no mud. Now this is my kind of paint!
- I decided on a deep Eggplant colour called Evening Staircase as the main shade and paired it with Magnolia and a great accent colour called Jewel
- I found a great stencil on the Royal Design Studio website that emulated the pulls on the bottom drawers. Things were starting to come together now.
- Painting the whole piece in Evening Staircase I used Magnolia and Jewel to create my design.
- This paint is beautiful to use, smooth with no drag at all. Thick enough to use with stencils with no seeping under.
- Here is the finished dresser, pretty smart looking I think.
- Top coated in Amulent's Ultra Tough Top Coat in their Flat finish
- If you would like to see a full video of me using this paint please visit Dandelions and Poppies and check out all my videos
