I purchased an old display cabinet at an auction for under $20. It was made of solid wood and had clear glass sliding doors. I knew I wanted to do something with it, but it sat around for nearly 3 years before I finally figured out what I wanted.
The cabinet without the glass doors
After removing one door. My dog loved hiding in it.
After removing the glass doors I purchased some beaded plywood and cut it to the same size as the glass.
I added trim (lathing strips) around the edges and made a criss-cross design on the front. I attached everything with small brad nails using my air nailer then patched all the holes with filler. I left about 1/4-1/2“ at the top and bottom of each so the panel would fit into the sliding door channels.
I painted the entire thing white and added simple black handles to open the new doors.
I decided to put a nice grey patterned paper on the back wall to add a touch of cuteness.
I put my large flat screen television on it and have stored all our DVD’s inside.

Nice job, looks good. I have a similar piece that I've have been putting off, but now seeing your piece I think I will start working on it.

What are the dimensions of your cabinet? Depth???

BTW your doggie looks just like my little girl.

    Great job.
