How to Create a Chalkboard Wall Command Center
Keep your family organized with a family command center. With a few inexpensive materials, you can create a chalkboard command center wall!
Sometimes, you have to get creative when it comes to creating a family command center. Take a look around your home and you just might find an unconventional spot for your family's command hub! In our case, we took a wall leading down to the basement as a spot to create a chalkboard wall! This spot was perfect because it was wall space that can't be used for much else. Plus, it gets a lot of traffic because our play room and laundry room are in the basement.
This is the wall before we painted it.
This spot works perfectly because it is eye level for even the youngest of kids.
You just need a few materials to make this wall a functional space!
First, you will need a can of chalkboard wall paint. You can read about my favorite brand of chalkboard paint here.
Be sure to give the wall at LEAST two coats of paint. Allow the paint to completely dry in between each coat.
Once the paint has completely dried for 72 hours, you will need to cure the wall.
It is a very easy process but it is absolutely necessary. Take a piece of chalk and use the long side to cover the entire chalkboard.
It doesn't have to be neat, you just want to cover the entire space. For more info on this process, you can read how to HERE.
Once the wall is covered in chalk, take a damp dishcloth and wipe down the wall. Once the wall has dried, it is ready to be written on!
You can fill this wall space with any family information that your family needs! Think about what type of information you need to keep organized in your family's day-to-day operations.
I have included:
