DIY Gift Idea Changeable Lego Minifigure Frame
Even though my boys have long grown out of Lego and most of their sets have been passed on to their cousins, I still come across the odd Lego Minifigure. The lonely figure is often hiding in some forgotten corner of the house. I normally rescue them from being sucked up in the vacuum and put them in the kitchen drawer. Along with all the other bits and pieces I'm not sure what to do with.
My husband used to love playing with the kids and their Lego, which gave me this idea for a DIY Father's day gift. I say Father's day but this photo frame can be easily made for any occasion that's part of it's charm.
Did you know that the hands of Lego Minifigures are designed to hold things. I've used them in the past to make a fabulous wall decoration for my son's bedroom (see it here).
It was this special feature that gave me the idea for this changeable photo frame.
What you need for this craft.
- Photo frame - I used a cheap Fiskbo frame from IKEA
- Chalkboard paint
- Spray paint
- 2 Lego Minifigures
- Superglue gel
- Jumbo wooden craft stick.
First thing I did was spray paint the Lego figures and frame the same colour.
Once the paint was dry I glued the 2 Lego Minifigures to the frame.
Next, I painted both sides of the jumbo craft stick with chalkboard paint.
Once the paint was dry, I wrote on the craft sticks. Happy Father's Day on one side and Happy Birthday on the other. However, you can write whatever you want on the sticks. It all depends on who you will be gifting the frame too.
Next, place the painted sign on the frame. It should easily fit into the hands of the Lego Minifigures. When you want to change the sign just flip it over or add a new one.
All that is left to do is to put a photo in the frame and gift it. Visit the blog for more photos.

This too! It’s such a cute idea and yet nobody seems to have noticed it?!
