How To Build A Sofa Table From A Cabinet Door

I like to used materials that I get for free or very inexpensively and I had these two beautiful wooden cabinet doors lying around. I knew I had to do something with them so they wouldn't just go to waste. I also had some metal legs that I got from Amazon and some other wooden ones that I picked up from a garage sale, so today I decided I would turn these doors into a beautiful sofa table.

Follow along to see how I did it!

These are the wooden doors I had been saving.

Best side table!

Love this project but don't have the time or tools to make one? Check out these budget friendly side tables that Amazon reviewers swear by!

I began by painting the back of the doors. Once it dried, I flipped it over and painted the other side.

I put a good coat of this matte grey on both sides.

I then put a second coat on. While it was still wet, I dripped my brush in white paint and wiped it off and painted over the grey. This gave it a subtle distressed look.

Once the paint was dry, I added the metal hairpin legs from Amazon.

I added one to each corner of the door. Once they were secure, it was time for the reveal.

Looking good!

I then sealed the top with a clear matte spray.

Once it dried, it was ready to decorate! I love how easy this was and so inexpensive to make.

If you don't like the metal hairpin legs, you can use wooden legs. The sky's the limit with these easy tables!

    Clever re-use!

Any suggestions on where to get best prices on hairpin legs?

Iā€™ve been shopping for hairpin legs for 2 years and think their prices are insane- of one were going to sell any piece.

    28ā€ legs @ 35 + paint @ 10 + time & prep work @ (2x20 hr) 40= 95.

That also means the doors were not in the equation.

Great job! I appreciate the recycling aspect, not to mention the beautiful finished look and purpose. It's the perfect size for a bonus table/stand. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
