Gosh they are so easy in planters and soil. Some I actually shear up with scissors and sprinkle on the soil soon a succulent grown cover results.
Hi! I guess you could try, depending on your climate. My main concern would be giving them the right soil, and not being able to keep them as dry as they like to be, with rain. Could you put them in your flower bed with colorful pots? It would make caring for them easier. Good luck and stay safe!

I think that'd be fine as long as it is mostly sun and not too damp.
If you live in a hot climate, they would do best in partial sun.

Soil must be well draining and doesn’t get cold in the winter. I don’t know why but done kind of animal dig mine up in the ground but not in pots. Go figure?
Make sure it's a nice sunny spot!
It should be pretty simple since they have shallow roots. Just plant in an area with lots of sun

I love Hens and Chicks - easiest plant I ever gree! Just stick the one root in the ground and that's it! They reproduce like wildfire and live through anything!
Chose an area that is not to shaded but one that does not have all day sun.
