Easy Faux Candles!
This is how you make easy faux candles!
Hometalk Recommends!
The finished candles!
This is them, looking awesome!
You'll need
-Heavy paper like the packing or corrugated stuff. Tubes and toilet paper rolls might work if you can fit an LED candle light in the top.
(You want sturdy candles)
-Glue (For gluing the rolled paper together)
-LED candle light (Candles yo!)
-Tape (To hold up the LED candle)
-Hot glue and glue gun (For the wax drip action)
-Chalk paint (Any paint will do, but chalk paint has a nice texture)
-Chalk paint wax (For a nice finish)
I bought packing paper from the dollar store and had some cardboard tubes in the workshop.
Just wrap the paper around the candle and glue it into place. Easy peasy!
Action shots of the wrapping and gluing!
Make a little tape bed, so the light doesn't drop though the candle. You'll hot glue over this so don't worry about it peeling off.
You can't see the tape in these pics, but it's there.
Make sure the candles can stand on their own. If they don't, you can hot glue them to a square of cardboard.
Don't rush the wax lines!
I think four layers gives the most realistic looking wax drips.
Use a dark base color. I went with Annie Sloan Graphite followed by Old white. The chalk paint will stick to the hot glue-no problem!
Is your mind blown?
Wax the candles to protect them.
You can paint the candle lights too.
As you can see, I didn't paint the candle lights.
Spooky!
I don't know if these are miniature human skulls or regular size fairy skulls.
Happy crafting!

Wow really cute. I could see using these at Christmas in reds , greens, gold and silver which is what I am going to do and put on my mantle. Thanks a bunch.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
The candles are great!!! Can you tell me about the pinecone/ yarn pumpkin??? How did you do that?? It looks great with the candles!!!
Wow love this! one question....I have never seen hot glue sticks in black. Is that what it was that you used? Maybe it doesn't matter what color glue if you paint them anyway, but maybe it gives a more realistic look using black?
Would the paint stick to the top of the plastic light too? I love the black, but maybe painting would look more realistic?
