Coastal Paint colors Living Room without much natural light????
So we want to repaint our living room to a nice airy, light & fresh-feeling Coastal-themed look. Problem is there is **VERY** little natural light. Just 1 window unfortunately. Aside from just doing White to make it lighter & brighter, do you know any other Wall Color suggestions?? Not looking to do the “MIAMI Vice pastel look. But more sophisticated coastal farmhouse looking. We’ll have one wall occupied with a lot of White IKEA bookcases & TV table. TIA for your thoughts & ideas! ❤️

I just painted my daughters room Sherwin Williams "Sea Salt".. Wow it's pretty and bright. If you want to have it slightly lighter, ask them for 75%. So pretty!
I used Benjamin Moore Ballet White. I found it to be the perfect neutral white without being too bright. You can read about it here. https://www.homeroad.net/2015/10/painting-house-beautiful-neutral.html
Hello Deidre,
Try using Duck Egg Blue Emulsion on your walls. You could graduate it too from Matt at the bottom going into Satin at the top (to be more reflective. Use White Woodwork. Go for natural to sand coloured flooring. Use a Sun shape mirror in gold. Add Mirrors to pick up the light you have coming from the window and another mirror to pick up from the reflection. Hang a Picture that gives the impression you are looking out on to the sea. Have fun! It can be done!
Hello additionally could you add mirrors or pole lamps to add. Lighting. The costal paint color idea sounds awesome.
Hi Deirdre, I found this article that has a whole bunch of tips on choosing the right paint color when there's not a lot of natural light - https://shorelinepaintingct.com/blog/best-paint-colors-for-rooms-with-little-natural-light/#:~:text=Neutral%20white%20paint%20colors%20reflect,feel%20more%20light%20and%20spacious.
When I hear 'coastal' I think of pale blue walls with white moldings.
Check out Sherwin Williams Sea Salt. I believe it would check all your boxes.
I'm leaning in the direction of what most of the others seemed to lean too. Contrast will help brighten a room such as white trim, doors, etc. Besides that I would go with a light blue/gray leaning toward more of a green then a purple. I would try to think of it not as a "dark" room but as a cozy room!

What color should I paint a room without natural light?
Neutral white paint colors reflect the most light because any other color besides white must be absorbing at least some portion of the spectrum. Cooler paint colors — like pale shades of blue and gray — help walls recede and make rooms feel more light and spacious.Feb 28, 2020

I like the Coastal Cool collection at Sherwin Williams. I think it's a Martha Stewart sponsored color palette.
Light gray would fit the bill! Total farmhouse color without being boring white!
You could try something like this - the walls in this room like either a very faint shade of green or blue. There are also white bookcases in this room: https://www.sandandsisal.com/2017/09/coastal-fall-family-room-tour.html
This shows another way you could paint the walls - these walls seem to be a light sand color: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/13581236367261528/
Sherwin Williams has some beautiful colors. I would go very light with a touch of color, perhaps a blue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI8Ygeq-IYM
Hi Deidre, I think you should choose the coastal colors you love and go with them, save a spot on a wall to put a faux window to add a bit more natural looking light!

Main wall color can be a darker shade and trim it out with pine trim. The light pine trim will be a light contrast that will pop out.
Well I live on the coast and grew up on the coast, and colors tend to be pastels of gray, blue, pale yellows and white are most popular for that beachy look. Paint the ceiling a bright white in a satin finish to reflect light, then add your table and floor lamps, and ceiling fixture in light colors. If you want a sophisticated look, the two that are the most popular are an all white color scheme, or the French country blue and yellow.

I would add some really pretty light fixtures or consider added some hi hats to the room to brighten it up. I would test bulbs at Home Depot and find one that you like, there are so many different ones today. The right lighting coupled with the right paint can make a huge difference.
How about a pale blue or light gray
Hi use Duck Egg Blue for the walls. (Warm Sunny feeling)
