I am going to show you how to create a super easy center piece using Epsom Salts. This is a simple project to make with your kids or grandkids and will only take a half hour or less . The only rule you have to make it in the early evening...read on and you'll see why.

To start off you will need Epsom Salts. I have this stuff on hand all the time. If you don't have any it can be purchased at Dollar stores, pharmacies, Walmart etc. It comes in a variety of scents too if you want to get a little crazy. Lol

Measure out about 6 cups.

Next you are going to gather supplies. For this I am using a large vase I had , some Christmas pics and battery operated lights that have a built-in timer. Thrift stores are great places to find these items or your local Dollar store. The lights can be purchased at Dollarama and come in white or multi color. For this I am using the white lights.

Next step is to turn on your lights and leave them. They will now stay on for 6 hrs and turn off and come back on, on their own the next evening. That is why I said this is an early evening project as you want to see your lights . I wrapped the battery pack in plastic wrap as you will be putting this inside your vase.

Start by placing some of your lights in the bottom of the vase.

Add some of your Epsom Salts to cover your lights. You may have to push them down with your finger to bury them. Continue to put in lights and salts til completely covered.

Here is my Christmas pics. You can buy these at local Dollar stores and craft stores. Mine were left over from crafts.

So take your pics and stick them in your salts, aka snow. You can see your lights through the salts lit up.

Next I took some pine garland and wrapped around the bottom of the vase. You can use a small wreath also. I left a few lights out of the salts to put on my pics.

So here it is lit up. Isn't it pretty!

I'm going to show how you can create a few different looks . These items can be purchased from the Dollar store . I had mine from my Christmas village.

Here is another design.

This is with the lights dimmed.

Here is another look, I switched out my truck for the deer.

Here it is with the lights off.

I absolutely love how this turned out. I'm having a really hard time deciding which I like best. This can be used all winter as your center piece or on a mantle, coffee table etc. You can easily change out the decorations to suit your mood and the possibilities are endless. If you have a Christmas village raid it for trees, figurines, etc or go to your Dollar store. A little snowman would look adorable in this. You can also do two or three of these together and create a scene with different size vases.

How do you cover the battery pack? Do you bury it under the salt?

Hi! These are really pretty, but how long does the battery pack last? Then you need to take it all apart to change the batteries? Thanks, Sunny
