How can I stiffen crepe paper?
HelloIs there anyway I can stiffen crepe paper leaves?
Hi Tina, if they're not going to be outside a regular Polycrylic clear coat would work just fine. If its going to be outside though I would look into outdoor shellacs and polyeurathanes.
I typically use Minwax water based Polycrylic and it works fantastic. I like it because it water based, doesn't smell horrible, and comes in different finishes so you can pick the one that best suits your needs and likes. Otherwise, I just purchased a jar of Dixie Belle Gator Hide -which is supposed to be super good, tough, and water repelling- but the problem is I haven't used it yet (I even posted a question about it a short while ago) and wouldn't be able to tell you it will work until I find out, myself.
As for the spray version, I have only ever used the spray Mod Podge and Rustoleum clear spray of which, they also have several versions to suit your needs.
Stick with a water based product. This has less VOC smells and will also not yellow items. If you are going to have anything outside, you may have to step up your game. I've had good luck with RustOleum for indoor projects.
For crafts, I use Krylon clear spray. For wood, I use either polycrylic or polyurethane, depending on the amount of use the piece will get. I have found polycrylic doesn't hold up as well as polyurethane.

Here are a few different wood finishes: https://www.homedepot.com/c/ab/types-of-wood-finishes/9ba683603be9fa5395fab90c31963a4
For the other crafts, I'd use a clear Krylon spray (find it at Hobby Lobby or any craft store)
Minwax spray polyurethane and also comes in cans for brush on. Make sure it's water based. Won't yellow over time
Yes, use a water based polyurethane, Min wax makes a very good 1. Polyurethane is also more durable.
Hello I recommend Rustoleum 2x sealers. They are available in a few sheens.
Here's a post that might help - https://thehomewoodworker.com/clear-wood-finishes/
A craft store clear coat in a spray can should cover all those projects. It may not stick super well to faux leather so you might test it first.
I like to use spray on lacquer. Comes in 3 different types, gloss, semi-gloss and matt.
There is not really one that is best for all. It will all depend on the surface you want to seal. I like oil based polyurethane on bare wood and water based poly over paint. For my leather projects that I paint I seal them with spray acrylic.

Hi,
Mod Podge make all sorts, so you may find one of those will do the job!
Minwax is perfect for this.
I use polyeurathane. They have a spray and can version
For a light protective coat, Varathane is fine, But a thicker durable coat use a epoxy finish.

Finishing with a clear coat is nice and it's good for a few reasons
I use a matte poly in a spray for most projects.
They have quick dry, clear coat sprays at craft stores to use on most surfaces.
