The house should either be on the ground or have a low ramp. You might need to add traction strips or a mat on the ramp to help wet, webbed feet navigate. Fill the house with plenty of straw for them to snuggle down into and for making a nest out of. The most important thing the duck house needs is ventilation.
Hi! What a clever idea! I would have never thought to use an old playhouse like that. I don't know a lot about ducks, but, I would think it would be sturdier and easier to clean if it was sitting on a pad on the ground. If you can't do a concrete pad, maybe a tiny raised deck. I would also make sure that the little house was anchored so a gust of wind didn't knock it over! Good luck and stay safe!
Hi Allison: Make sure you have the enclosure that is safe for the duck so that cats, dogs, foxes and others who might take an interest in it can't get in. Also, you should have a top on the enclosure so that nothing can climb in or swoop down, like a hawk. Hawks are all over the place and fast, they're really fast! And, depending on how cold it gets where you are, but they need to be kept warm. Here are a couple of sites that may help:
If you have predators in your area this will not suffice from them. The duck will need a very sturdy structure at night or the predators will break in and kill it. This is a kids play house and not sufficient for protection. I suggest you read up all about ducks, care, feeding housing and PROTECTION before you get it.
Some basic carpentry skills and tools will be required to build this from scratch. The pic seems to be a kids play house sitting on a elevated deck. Pretty easy for a local handy person to put together...

Hi Allison, love the idea of using an old playhouse to make a home for your new duck. I found the tutorial for the one you've shared here
https://diyprojects.ideas2live4.com/turn-an-old-playhouse-into-a-chicken-coop/ and you can find old playhouses online. I would look at Facebook marketplace or ask around in your neighborhood. I found one on Amazon that may work - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DT8TDKK/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFJRkI3WTk3NEpDVVMmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA5NzI5MjgzQU9XMzFWTDdBQjRDJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA5Mzc3MDgyWEpEVllFT0ZVMTdIJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfZGV0YWlsMiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

this is a playhouse on a platform! look for one on facebook marketplace
The platform is “treated” 6x6’s screwed into treated 2x6’s, with a 3/4” exterior grade “CDX” plywood deck.
After the wood dries out, prime & 2 coats of exterior grade paint- preferably oil based.
Just put the play house on a platform and use the wire mesh to cover any openings.
