Hand Made Table/upholstered Chair
I bought these hairpin legs a while ago with the intent Of making a table for myself. It ended up not looking the way I wanted it and it would’ve been stained on top to match my decor, but since I’m not using it, I did something a little different.
I bought a table and chairs in the style of French provincial and it only came with five chairs. This arm chair was extra so I decided to use it with this table. I used a nice fresh cream color, then sanded it all over to give a worn look.
Sometimes my inspiration comes from the strangest things at the strangest times. Yesterday I purchased two pillows for my sofa which have the same stripe on them. An idea popped into my head and I went for it!
So let’s start at the beginning. I purchased these legs on Amazon which are 28 inches, then decided I wanted a 3 1/2 foot top by 18 inches deep, which is a perfect size for a desk, entryway table, etc. I got Home Depot to cut the board for me. the legs come with stick on templates which make it super easy to place. I actually used smaller screws as the ones it came with were too long for the wood I used.
After painting the top cream, I took blue painters tape and carefully measured each line to get the look I wanted.
I painted the whole table top in a fresh cream color first!
To save time I used a hairdryer to dry the paint in between taping.
Using a pen, Mark each side to guide your tape. See picture below.
Almost done!
That’s all there is to it!
I love this look! Simple, yet it makes a statement and exactly what I wanted!
For the chair I used a simple oatmeal colored fabric, then attached with a staple gun, then used part of my Paris stencil to add detail. I used a French gray color to match the table!
The pillow below was my inspiration!
The detail on the chair is absolutely gorgeous and by sanding it, it just brings out the details even more!
I am loving this simplicity of the French typography on the chair.
This chair has beautiful curves and compliments the straight lines of the table.
Simply elegant.
An easy project for anyone to try! You can certainly change the colors, use stain and paint, use different fabric etc...
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day and get creative!
Stencil is from Michaels craft store around $7, but you can definitely find it on Amazon. Thanks again!

Have a question about this project?
I love both pieces. I do have a question. What type of fabric did you use on that lovely chair? Also, You stenciled the French lettering? I love it, but am very new to this. I have a great chair I would like to do this to. Thank you.
