How to make glitter bath bombs. This is a fun project and an easy recipe thanks to the coconut oil and kaolin clay. The coconut oil helps hold the dry ingredients together, and the kaolin clay helps them dry rock hard.

I used body safe glitter. You can also use biodegradable glitter. I recommend using metal bath bomb molds. They hold up better and don't bend, so you can get better looking bath bombs.

You will need:

  •  2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup citric acid
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup kaolin clay
  • 2 tablespoons dead sea salts
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon polysorbate 80
  • 1 teaspoon essential oils
  • 1-2 teaspoons each of purple and green mica colorant
  • 3 tablespoons of white cosmetic glitter

In a large mixing bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, arrowroot powder or cornstarch, kaolin clay, and dead sea salts.

Melt the coconut oil and drizzle over the dry ingredients. Add the polysorbate 80, essential oils, and 1 tablespoon of biodegradable glitter. Mix well with gloved hands. It should feel like wet sand.

Separate the glitter bath bomb mixture between two small bows. Add purple mica to one bowl and green mica to the other one. Stir well.

Put purple bath bomb mixture on one half of your bath bomb mold and green bath bombs mixture on the other half of the mold. Do not press down the mixture, but have some mounded over the mold to allow for pressing the mixture into the mold. If your mixture gets too dry, spray with rubbing alcohol to rewet it.

Press the two halves of the mold together. Then tap the mold gently to release the mold. Unmold the bath bomb and let sit for 24 hours or until hard.

I used an essential oil blend that smells like Fruit Loops with lemongrass, sweet orange, and lemon.
