Give A Generic Trash Can A Cottage Style Makeover Easily With Paint

I needed a trash can in my bathroom that was also doggie proof. I bought a generic stainless steel trash can and was very uninspired with the bright shiny finish of it. It was just too harsh for my Cottage style bathroom. I solved this decorating dilemma with the power of paint!
I gave the trash can a quick sanding so the paint had something to grab onto. I gave it a couple of coats of soft green spray paint. I chose a spray paint with primer already in it. I gave it a light distressing and finished it off with a vintage bird image.
This is just another example of how paint is an easy way to make a dramatic transformation to a piece of décor that would ordinarily stick out like a sore thumb in a room.

I printed the image out on printable sticker paper I bought at my local office supply store. You can find the image on my website at https://www.lisascreativedesigns.com/product/printable-vintage-bird-image-digital-download/
