Nonna's Boo Boo Hearts

When my children were small we had what we called a boo boo bunny. It was a washcloth folded into a bunny shape that had a reusable ice cube in the middle of it. I kept it in the freezer and we used it for, well, boo boos! Not only did it distract little ones from their injury, it really worked to reduce swelling and numb scrapes for pain relief.
My little granddaughter had her first set of shots last week and that brought the boo boo bunny to mind. Instead of buying one I thought her Nonna (me!) could make her a couple. These are so simple and quick, I think you will want to make some too!

I found this bundle of washcloths at the Dollar General for $3.00. You could also use flannel or other fabric scraps.
Simply choose your shape ( I chose a heart), cut out a pattern and your fabric. Then stitch them together like you are making a pillow..Leave an opening so you can turn them and fill them.
I filled mine with rice. These can be kept in the freezer for boo boos or you can heat them in the microwave (the time will vary based on your microwave- and be careful not to get them too hot for little ones) to place on an ear for earaches or even in pockets to keep hands warm!
