Old army crate turned into coffee table
by

(IC: blogger)
An old WWII army crate with original hardware was painted, glazed, and painted again to get this layered effect. Lots of layers of paint were used on this chest till I arrived at the desired color. First white, then Annie Sloan Provence, then BEHR California Poppy were applied. Then I applied Annie Sloan Coco on top.

Mason on Apr 25, 2015Way to ruin a piece of WWII history :( You take whatever value there was in it as a historical piece and destroy it when you repaint it. I wouldn't be encouraging others to do this to WWII footlockers, as they are becoming increasingly hard to find in serviceable condition. Of course, it is yours to do as you please as you own it. Hopefully more people will be conscious of exactly what they are doing when they take a paint brush to these in the future, and think twice.
