Faux Mantel Redo
by

I picked up a faux mantel from a consignment shop six months ago and with a little TLC it has been totally transformed. I painted the entire mantel with chalk paint, added a shelf and backing.
This is the mantle before.
I painted it with ivory chalk paint and then distressed with sand paper.
Next I added a shelf by staining a pine board.
The most dramatic part of the mantel is the bright backing I added behind the shelves. I mixed Behr Key Largo with BB Frosch chalk powder and painted a thin sheet of pine.
I screwed the piece of pine to the back of the mantel.
I decorated the mantel with a garage sale mirror, a recycled wine bottle, clearance finds and other items I had around my house.
Stop by to see all of the redo pictures.
