Mid Century Hutch Makeover

Found this drab Mid Century Hutch at a thrift store recently. It was missing it's legs, and needed some TLC! I loved it anyway!
After I purchased it, I visited my local Ace Hardware where I found the perfect furniture legs. They were $3.00 each, and screwed into the existing holes on the bottom of the cabinet.
I began painting with Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint. This is Everlasting White on the inside and Treasure Blue on the outside. When it was done, I gave the outside a coat of Golden Brown Creme Wax, also by Americana Decor.
I came across this beautiful handmade paper at World Market and decided to use it to add some interest to the cabinet. I cut paper to fit behind the shelves in the top half of the cabinet and adhered it with some Mod Podge. Then I cut out some of the shapes to use on the cabinet doors and used the Mod Podge to put them in place.
To add some more color, I mixed some paint to go with the handmade paper and painted the lower shelves of the cabinet. Details on how to mix the paint is on the blog.
I added a bit of the pink to the front of the top shelves as well. My collection of turquoise dishes works well with the new paint job.
The finished piece!

Beautiful! Just the color and look that will blend in with my Southwestern cottage look.

Though you did a great job on this piece I personally would of left as is. Added some legs polished it up and enjoyed the beautiful mid century style. I refurb furniture but never mess with a great mid century piece. I’m working on a Heywood Wakefield piece right now. First time refinishing any of his work. I’m hoping when I’m done I have done justice to his work.
