I was on the hunt for the perfect above the toilet cabinet to up cycle and match our beachy bathroom decor. I refused to pay full price for a brand new one since I knew I was going to paint it anyways. While strolling through a thrift store, she finally found me.
I was so excited to get started on this beauty, I forgot to take a before picture. The one I found online was $49.99. It came with the stand that sits on either side of the toilet. I didn't want the stand because it makes me feel claustrophobic. The one I found cost $25.00
For the base coat I used leftover paint I had from our Bedroom focal wall, Valspar Sea Rocket. I mixed it with some leftover homemade navy blue chalk paint so that I didn't have to sand or prime it.
I dry brushed a lighter color that was leftover from painting a bathroom wall, Valspar Ocean Wave. I also added some Apple Green acrylic paint. I dry brushed some more of the base color to help the colors blend better. I distressed the edges with sand paper. Then I sealed the whole job with Mod Podge that I added a Pearl acrylic paint to. I love the slight shimmery affect.
I bought these knobs at Hobby Lobby at 50% off, $4.99
I added a painted 1x4 to the inside of the top so that it could be hung on the wall with metal hangers. I love that it is a little bigger than most to hold my beach decor.

Love it! I need a little cabinet like that!

Great job! Thank you for sharing.

BTW, I like to document our projects with photos and I usually forget to take 'before' photos, too.

Did you paint the bottles you have on top of your cabinet?
