I am currently working on updating my daughters nursery to a “big girl room”. The process is taking longer than I thought but that is because I want to find just the right pieces for it to bring my vision to life. I figured it’s better to get it right the first time rather than rushing just to get it done. I had pictured a little pink side table with spindle legs to put beside her bed. I was so happy to find one on marketplace for $15! When I went to pick it up it was obvious that it needed some TLC but the bones of it were good.

I am so happy with how it turned out, and it will be the perfect finishing touch to her room.

From a distance the table doesn’t look bad. Upon further inspection I noticed that a few of the legs had some cracks in them and the paint was not in the best shape either, which was fine since I was going to be painting it anyway.

The very first thing I did was to use some paintable wood filler to fill in the cracks on the legs.

Once the wood filler was all dry, I gave the piece a good sanding. Before you begin painting it’s very important to thoroughly clean the piece of furniture to remove any excess oils and dirt.

Since I wasn’t sure what kind of paint was used on the piece before and I wanted a long lasting durable finish I gave the table a coat of primer.

Let the primer dry according to the directions on the can, and then you are ready to paint. I used a regular latex paint for this as I am planning on sealing it after. A sample size jar was perfect for this project and cost under $5!

Anytime I am painting a table I find it easiest to flip it upside down and paint the legs first.

After two coats of paint and two coats of Polycrylic sealer this is the final result!

I absolutely adore how this table turned out and I am excited to see it in her completed bedroom.
