Hi Mary Ann, hope this helps you clean your braided rug. Cleaning Your Braided Rug
These need to be regularly vacuumed with the non-rotating brush vacuums. Certain braided rugs can then be deep cleaned with carpet foam that can be gently rubbed into the surface. This helps to keep the rug intact, and doesn't put it under any unnecessary stress.Sep 21, 2017

Take it outside and shake it or beat with a broom. Scrub any stains with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water. It can be sprayed with a hose and hung up to dry.
Hi - there are some good tip here on how to clean a braided rug: https://www.homespice.com/blog/caring-for-your-braided-rugs.html
Hi Mary Ann. Begin by vacuuming the rug really good using a non-rotating brush. This will help loosen dirt and debris. For stains, I use Woolite Rug and Upholstery Cleaner. I recommend this product because I have had good results with it. Take it outside and spray it with a high pressure hose. If your garden hose doesn't have enough pressure, you can take it to a car wash. Lay it on the ground and spray it with plain water. Don't use the soap at the carwash. It can become trapped inside the fibers. Only use water and vinegar to clean with, equal parts. If you end up at the car wash, spray the ground clean before laying the rug on it. Good luck Mary Ann. I hope you are well.
I have seen people use a pressure washer on their rugs outside. You wouldn't want to do it on an oriental rug but a braided rug might work.
I read this bit of informatin on Amazon (from Capel Rugs):
". Vacuum regularly and clean spills immediately by blotting with a cloth or sponge. Remove any grease spots with ordinary dry cleaning solvents. Professional or "in home" periodic cleanings using the power spray-extraction carpet cleaning method are recommended."
here are some ideas

I have discovered Campanelli carpet cleaner that has been wonderful for cleaning rugs and upholstery. You shake the can, point & shoot, then vacuum.
I have braided rugs throughout my home and the answer is that it depends on what it's made of...wool will be cleaned differently than cotton or polypropylene. I vacuum all of mine with a simple brush floor tool. Power head vacuums aren't recommended since they can tear up the braids. I steam my cotton/ poly rugs and they look great. I don't have wool, but I would check fabric content and with the manufacturer before cleaning.
Hello Mary Ann,
Steam clean it starting at the middle and work outwards. Best wishes.

Can it go in the washing machine on the gentle cycle?
You could rent a carpet cleaner from your local grocery store.
Hi! Check the manufacturer's instructions. There should be a label. Can it be turned over? Cleaning both sides and alternating sides will help it wear better. Always do a good vacuum before cleaning. Good luck!
Hello. Does your carpet have a label to know what it’s made of? Some carpet as well have dye bleeding with exposure to water.
I have washed many carpets in my bathtub. Hard to say without knowing what your carpet fiber content is.
Be safe and let a pro do it. Drycleaners or rug shops usually do it. I find they fall apart if you don't do it right.
I would contact a rug professional
If you can hang it outside or drape it over a railing or something, you can "beat" it with a broom. Then give it a good hosing and scrub it with gentle soap. Then rinse it well again and let it dry
You can rent a carpet cleaner, or hire a cleaning company.
What is the rug’s material? If it’s cotton, you can run it through the wash.
Hi,
10001 cleaner and follow directions, or a steam cleaner/carpet cleaning machine, maybe?
