Supplies for Easiest DIY Napkin Rings for Everyday Use

  • Wired hemp
  • Cardboard tube
  • Wire cutters

How to Make Super Easy Everyday Napkin Rings

Step 1: Find the right cardboard tube for your diy wired napkin rings

To form your easy diy napkin rings, use a sturdy cardboard tube approximately 1.5″ in diameter.

Mine was saved from a roll of wrapping paper.

Cardboard tubes from aluminum foil and plastic wrap work well, too.

You can use an empty paper towel tube, but I find them to be a little too wide and too flimsy for this easy napkin ring diy project.

Step 2: Shape your easy everyday napkin rings

Once you have your cardboard tube, take an end of your wired hemp and hold it on the side of the tube.

Then tightly wind the wired hemp around the tube.

Try to keep your winding as close together as possible.

After you have wound around the cardboard tube five times, take your wire cutters and snip off the wired hemp.

*Tip: cut the end of the wire so it lines up with the starting wire end.

This will provide a cleaner look when using your diy napkin rings for everyday use.

Because this wire is 18 gauge, it’s very sturdy, it will hold its shape easily.

Thinner wire doesn’t work as well for diy napkin rings, as it bends too easily and will show kinks.

The hemp covering on the wire also hides any imperfections that might happen as you wind around the cardboard tube.

Step 3: Putting your simple diy napkin rings to use

After you have cut the wired hemp, gently pull the wire off the cardboard tube.

Voila! You have now made the easiest diy napkin rings ever!!

Depending on your preference, you can slightly pull the coils away from each other, or you can leave them tightly wound.

Then take your napkin and feed it through the diy wire napkin ring.

You can either have the two ends facing up or facing down ~ it’s your choice.

*Note: I like the simplicity of the napkin rings as they are, but if the two raw ends bother you ~ you can get two beads with large enough holes and glue them onto the ends.

See how CUTE they look on a table setting here.
