Make a holiday shadow box using vinyl decals and thrift store miniatures.

I adore  miniatures. I’ve used them in several projects and I’m always looking for excuses to buy more so I can make stuff with them! I like to buy holiday grab bags with small items in them at Goodwill San Antonio, and that’s how I found the small Christmas items used here. Use thrift store frames and shadow boxes to make holiday shadow boxes for decorating your home.

I used my favorite Styletech Craft products, Luster, to decorate the glass. This vinyl has a fantastic shine to it. (You can see another project I made with Luster on my site.) I used some design files I had in Silhoutte Studio to quickly design and cut the text for this project.

Supplies Used to Make a Holiday Box:

  • Thrifted Frames and shadow boxes
  • Paint
  • StyleTechCraft Vinyl
  • Cutting Machine
  • Miniatures
  • Patterned paper
  • Glue Gun

The frames look cute as is with just the text, but since they are shadow boxes we can have fun embellishing them more. Create little vignettes behind the glass by gluing miniatures onto the inside of the frame or onto the paper backing.

Transfer the vinyl to the glass.

Put the glass back in the shadow box.

Aren’t they sweet? You can make a holiday shadow box for any occasion. Have fun crafting and creating with vinyl and thrift store finds!
