VALENTINE INSPIRATION.

For my craft, I am sharing how you can make a heart art using book pages and a canvas.

First step:

Choose your base, I am using a 11 x 14 canvas I purchased in Wal-Mart, a package of two. I painted my canvas with Serenity Blue chalked paint.

It is best to keep the canvas wet, this will help keep the paint gliding on the canvas.

Set the canvas to the side to dry thoroughly.

Second step

I ripped 10 pages out of my book. Cut each page into 4 pieces.

  • Using a pencil, roll the piece on the pencil
  • hot glue the end
  • slide the pencil from the tube

Third step

Using a heart template, I traced to my painted canvas.

Draw a line down the center of the heart.

Forth step

Taking the 40 tubes, cut the tubes to fill in the heart, use the center line as an edge as well. I attached the tubes to my canvas with hot glue.

To keep the outer part of the heart evenly staggered, I used a piece of cut off tube for a guide.

Cut a curve to the outside edge of the tube on the curve part of the heart.

Last step

Place embellishments to your heart. I used a piece of lace to make a bow and place a button in the center of the bow.

Look how cute this craft is and it was under $10.

That is adorable. My daughter has her own library (probably a thousand books or more) that she are I have built it together over many years. I am elderly and want to leave a lasting memory for her about how we worked together and how much we love books. I will make this cute project but I think I will spray several light coat of varathane on the finished product to preserve it.

Thank you so much for sharing your project. Book lovers.

This is so much fun to do. Did in fourth grade. Sister collected paper from all the classrooms (ticket straight to hell if you deface a book!). She had us just color scraps as desired or leave as is. We trimmed paper, rolled, and pasted to cardboard heart. She made some embellishment we put in top. Every heart was beautiful and unique, even the non artistic kids were lovely. Our classroom was so cheery and on Valentine’s Day, brought home Valentine to mom, we wrote msg on back before starting
