Make a pretty buffalo check ornament with a rustic farmhouse touch. It's easy and inexpensive to make and would make a nice gift idea too.

Paper Mache 4″ Number 5 Krafticon

DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint Blackicon

DecoArt Silver Acrylic Painticon

Silver Tone Round Brads icon

Foam brush

Here is a quick and easy tutorial:

Step 1.

Start by painting the paper mache with two coats of black paint using a foam brush.

Step 2.

Next give it a light coat of silver paint still letting some of the black paint show. You can wipe off some of the paint on a paper towel before painting.

Step 3.

Add a second light coat of silver paint and sand the edges if you want. This is a matter of preference. You can let just a little of the black paint show through, or have it more distressed looking by using just a little bit of metallic paint.

Step 4.

Then just add a few silver brads and pretty ribbon for hanging. I love how this ornament turned out. You can make it using any chipboard, even from the dollar store. Also, they have all kinds of shapes and sizes so you can choose a piece that works with your home decor or decorating theme. Just have fun with it!
