I love to incorporate what's locally found around my home for my decor, local flavoring I guess you'd call it. Living In Newfoundland, Canada as you may already be aware of we have a lot of MOOSE on our island. The Fall hunting season might provide the opportunity to hunt and obtain the antlers from a bull moose, with a licence of course. The one seen below is on display at a sport and hunting store, he had quite a large set of antlers!

If you're even luckier you might come across one of their previously shed antlers in the woods, which will explain why I only have one seen here! Finders keepers, losers weepers, hahah. I scrubbed and sanitized it of course, let it dry and then took it outside to spray paint.
I chose the Krylon Copper paint color, giving it a nice even first coat and once it was dry I applied the second coat to ensure total coverage. Meanwhile, I assembled some items that would accent the copper paint color. I had a frosted candlestick but only had a tealight sized candle? Solution...I flipped it over and the base held the stubby sized candle perfectly which was scented pumpkin spice...mmm so good.
I had previously put together a small floral centerpiece with warm tones and the flower pot had copper accents so it would coordinate with it well along with the two candles to show one possible look.
The next look I added in a few pine cones, something so small really added a nice touch I thought.
I fiddled with the antler and realized it looked great as well when it was flipped over. The hollow space allowed room for a basket of pine cones and a few small autumn accents, a pumpkin and a Fall, floral pick. The candlesticks fit into the crevices of the antler as if it was handmade for them.
Lastly, I flipped it back over and laid the loose items in front of the antler and the candlesticks in the contours of the antler, simple but sweet.
But guess what's even sweeter? My little man resting over there by the wood stove patiently watching silly mom fuss with the moose antler! He's always by my side so it's hard to get photos without him being in the midst of things! I hope you didn't mind me fussing over the antler and that it inspired you to use local items for your decor as well. Thanks for viewing.
