If you're like me, you love decorating for the holidays. ..any holiday! My favorite decorations are my villages. I do one for Halloween and one for Christmas. I swear, I'm always short on the trees and greenery to accent the village. So I made my own from my garden. I also use these in other craft projects as well. ..ornaments, pictures, anywhere you would use the 'artificial' ones!
The only materials you need for this project is spray paint, spray acrylic, glitter (optional ) and flowers from the garden. ..really any type of flower can be used depending on how you want them to look. For this post I am using celosia.
First, clip and dry the flowers. I do this by hanging them upside down for about a week. Yup, that's a chip clip! Works great!
Once dried, gently tap out the seeds...for next year's planting, of course!
Next, in a well ventilated area or outside, thoroughly spray paint the flowers (black for Halloween, white or green for Christmas ) Allow to dry completely, then spray a thin coat of spray acrylic. At this point, you can add glitter or snow if you'd like . Again, allow to dry completely. That's it!
Place them in your village or use in your craft projects. To make them easier to stand, you can gently push the stem into a small piece of Styrofoam.
These were painted green and white glitter and snow fluff was added.
Black for Halloween 🎃
I pack them away in between tissue paper in their own box so they don't get crushed.
I hope you found this project interesting and maybe an idea you can use. Happy Holidays!

I love the Birch bark houses, did you make them? If so how? They would be cute in my Christmas village.
