These colorful angels are made from a simple paper plate, a lace doily, and some basic art supplies. This easy holiday craft is a fun activity for any age or artistic skill. Once completed, these angels can decorate a mantle, hang on your Christmas tree, or take place of pride on the top of your tree!
You'd never guess it, but this charming holiday craft starts with a plain *uncoated* paper plate. These are the thin paper plates that I hate eating off of, but work great for this project.
Other materials include a lacy paper doily (though this is optional), any coloring or painting materials, a styrofoam ball or wooden bead to use as the head, glitter, sequin or beads, and some glue. All the supplies are listed on my blog at http://hubpages.com/art/Easy-Christmas-Craft-How-to-Make-a-Paper-Plate-Angel
The first step in making these pretty angels is to start coloring or painting your paper plate. You can use any coloring or painting supplies you have to do this, including crayons, watercolor, colored pencils, or finger paints.

There's no special method for coloring your plate and the results do not need to be pretty or fancy. Just be sure to cover your plate to the edges.

While your paper plate dries, you can move on to the step below. Once your plate is completely dry, cut in into three pieces as shown above. These will become the parts of your angel.
While you plate is drying, you can decorate your paper doily. I used some glitter glue and sequin to add some sparkle, but you could also used beads and buttons.
The assembly of these angels is quite easy and gives you lots of opportunities to make each angel special and unique. You can find all the directions on my blog at

I was looking for an angel top for our "little" tree (due to us having a puppy this year, that get's (or tries) to get into everything. :) Found this and it's exactly the perfect Angel for the tree. Thank you Donna.
