Do you hate having a trash can out in the open in your kitchen? We did too! So instead I decided to convert a kitchen base cabinet into a pull out trash can drawer. The whole project is made for just a little plywood, some full extension drawer slides and some pieces of hardwood trim. Check out the whole build video below for the details!
This is the full build video. If you like it and want to see more of my videos click here to subscribe to my YouTube channel! Thanks!
Here is where we started. A regular swing open base cabinet. And we converted it to trash can heaven!
I started out by removing the door from the cabinet. The trash cans were already hanging out in this cabinet but were so hard to access.
I installed some cleats in the base cabinet to attach the extension slides. You can see all the details on how I made and installed them in the video above.
To hold the trash cans I build a simple drawer with a bottom.
To hold the cans in place I put a face frame on the
To move the handle from the side to the top I drilled out and plugged the holes with cherry plugs.
The plugs will darken over time, but I flipped the door so you can't even notice them.
What an amazing kitchen transformation! If you want to see more head over to the blog post via the link below!

    It looks fantastic!

Can I hire you to build me one? We have a compactor that keeps breaking down.

This would be a perfect solution! Get rid of the compactor and add this.

You're really good at what you do!
