I gave my TV cabinet a second life with Chalk paint.
Finished cabinet with Java color top and component shelves and Old White color on doors and body.
My cabinets style, function and quality was never an issue, it just did not fit my décor any longer.

I chose Chalk paint because you do not need to sand or prep the item you want to paint. This cabinet had a wood front and wood veneer top and sides.
I cleaned the piece off with spray cleaner to remove any dirt, then I removed all hardware. I painted the top and shelves with Java first and let them dry. I taped them off and painted the body and doors. It took about 3 coats of white to cover the dark. I let the paint dry overnight.
I wanted to give it a bit of distressing around the edges, so I lightly ran sandpaper over it until the dark wood showed. It will be a bit dusty, so wipe down the piece before applying the wax. Apply the wax in small sections and buff with a shop paper towel. The wax takes about 3 weeks to cure.
A new look for way less money than buying a new cabinet.
