What DIY project are you most proud of?

Wish I had presented my project here on Hometalk, but at that point I was not a Hometalker yet. The short story is my husband & I were on vacation at a resort ocean town and saw a signed ceramic table top with a missing tile next to a dumpster, It was just beautiful. It would not fit in our car, we found a hardware store and bought a putty knife and removed the tiles and took them home. Next day a friend's husband cut the framing tiles down and cornered some, I mounted them on plywood, grouted, and hung the whole picture on the wall. It needed a frame to complete it and we had a bunch of wine corks. I built the channel for them around the picture, painted it and hot glued in the corks.Done and still enjoying it.

I've done so many projects over the years but I think the biggest achievement is tiling the tub surround at our farmhouse. Probably my joy was in completing it to the ceiling. As you can from the showerhead (which is normal height), we have high ceilings. Once I finished this, I snapped a photo even before I finished cleaning up just to remember the moment.

MY kitchen :) It was a long time ago but I just went and decided to build all the cabinets for the whole thing! My "hubby" at the time thought I was nuts and I didn't care lol! I was nervous but, to this day, I still think it turned out pretty good and I love my kitchen! PS. My new spouse loves my kitchen too ;)

My husband put in a sewage ejector and full bath in our unfinished basement and tiled the entire 2000 sq feet of floors

The retaining wall we put up. It is about 100 ft. long and 6 ft. tall. The interlocking blocks weigh 70 lbs. each and we used about 6 pallets.

My master bath. I made some mistakes, but the shower turned out great. Even included a porcelain seat. The only thing I forgot was the exhaust fan. But we do have a window in the bathroom, so it meets code.

Well, the project I am most proud of is, gosh, I don't know what to call it, maybe a cage. Anyway, I built a frame that hangs from my basement ceiling and snugs up to the part of the wall that has a window in it. The frame is 4' x 4' square and hangs 3' down from the ceiling. It has 2 levels. I wrapped the 3 sides with chicken wire and put a piece of 1/2" plywood down as a floor and carpeted that. I removed the window and put in a cat door that flaps open and shut. The entire front of this cage opens up on a piano hinge. Outside I built a 3 sided dog house and snugged the open side of it up to the window and sealed it tight to the house. The feral cats come into the dog house and then go through the cat door and into the basement cage to be as warm as the house is, without being able to have the run of the basement. There are beds in there, several dishes for food, water and kibble. One winter, it was so cold and windy here that cars wouldn't start, it was brutal, way below zero. I went down to feed anyone who was in the cage and, to my surprise, all I could see was fur and eyes! There were cats, small dogs, squirrels, a couple skunks and a few opossums all squashed into the cage. No one fought or acted badly, and when I opened the door to give them food and water (I used those long plastic planters that are about 2 1/2 feet long) they backed up for me and took turns eating. After a week or so, when it got warmer, they left and went back home or where ever it was that they came from, no worse for the wear. Before they left for good, the only foot prints that were in the snow was from when they went out to go potty :) Every once in a while I hear an animal in there and go down and make sure they have food and water. That's my favourite project :)
