I would be afraid of damaging the painting, but first I would dry warm water. Mod Podge is water-soluble. Here's a link with other methods to try:

Hi Jennifer, here's some good info for you. The beauty of ModPodge is that it is dissolvable.

Depends if your painting is water based. Warm water should remove the MP, but may destroy your painting... be careful

Good luck
The only way I know to remove modge podge is with water. Use a damp sponge and go over lightly. Do it several times, but do not get painting soak and wet.
Might it be easier to reapply primer and redo the project? I often prime over goodwill paintings.
Hi Jennifer. Use warm water sparingly to get the MP off. You could also try adding a small amount of vinegar to the warm water for better results. Good luck Jennifer. Merry Christmas.
I think you will be fighting a loosing battle trying to get it off. It will be soaked into the canvas and the paint.
I found this article, I hope it helps:

Ugh - wish there was an easier answer to this. If you try to take away the modpodge, the paint may too come off. As painful as it sounds, if you completed the canvas project yourself, you may want to re-do it without modpodge.
You can use Krud Kutter
Hi! Mod Podge is a water based glue, and I can usually remove it with a damp microfiber cloth. Try a small area and see if this works for you. Stay safe!

I don't think you can remove it. You might have to paint over it.
Seems like any removal would take of the paint, too
You could try painting over it
I paint on canvas often. It's a tough one. Mod Podge is a sealer, it's meant to protect against water and elements. If you use warm water or other solutions to remove it, most likely you'll remove the paint too, especially if the paint below is acrylic or water based.
