Cardboard Letter

I decided to see if I could make a letter out of cardboard. Like all of you, I've seen dozens of these letters wrapped in twine, etc. So I wondered: "Can I do something like that??"
So I tore the flap off a box headed for recycling and freehand drew the letter H for my last name. Then I did the same thing on a second flap. I was going to dig out a letter stencil and I asked myself "why?" This was to be a fun project using things I already had, except for the lights. So I went with the imperfect H and I like it!

I cut them out, leaving the "tab" at the top and bottom because I had an idea for a 3D effect.
I stood them up, using clothes pins to hold the overlapped "tabs". Clothespins make great little clamps!
I separated them again, and painted them with Waverly paint from Walmart that I had on hand. It's a color called crystal, that is a pale silvery color.
After they were dry, I hot glued the tabs together. I used clothes pins to hold them together until they were dry. Since it was cardboard, I decided the hot glue would be enough, and it was.
These are the little lights I bought from Walmart for less than four dollars.
I used a skewer to poke through holes for the lights and lit them up. They didn't have to be glued or taped in place, since they held well in the holes I poked.
Another view. I think I could make a whole word if I wanted to! Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect or look like it was purchased in a store to enjoy! I can see other possibilities for additional projects. Most of all it was fun, which is what crafting should be, don't you think?
