DIY Denim Pot Holders

After doing a little closet cleaning, I’ve come up with 4 or 5 pairs of jeans that need a new home. I do give clothes to family and friends, but still end up with “extra’s” when it comes to clothes. These DIY Upcycled Denim Pot Holders were born from a pair or ugly pot holders and some old jeans. The jeans were Matt’s, so they were nice and wide which worked perfect for this project.

This is one of my ugly pot holders. This side doesn’t look too bad, but the other side is burned, stained, and torn apart. I’m actually too embarrassed to post a photo of the other side.

I cut the bottoms off a pair of Matt’s old jean’s and placed the pot holder on top to make sure it would fit. Trim the jeans up and fold in about half an inch. I used embroidery floss tied in a double knot and stitched all the way down one end of the opened pot holder.

Insert the pot holder into the denim pocket. Now stitch the second side closed of your DIY Upcycled Denim Pot Holder. Stitch in a loop of fabric before stitching closed if you want to be able to hang the pot holders.

I added some “decorative” stitching and a patch to each pot holder that I made.

I could definitely see Urban Renewal selling pot holders that look just like these, but you can easily make your own by following the steps above. What do you guys think of these DIY Upcycled Denim Pot Holders?
