Gift for My 10yr. Old Grandson.

Since I had made the artist desk for my granddaughter, I wanted to make something for her brother. What do you make for a 10yr. old boy? He loves lock boxes!
Top of box.
I purchased a plain box, a lock with key, and some decorative rocks. I had the rest of the things on hand. I sanded it and stained it with cherry walnut color. I brushed with polyurethane when it was dry. I had some wood letters I painted and glued on, along

with the rocks. I made a frame for his photo out of Popsicle sticks. The two decorations on the sides of his photo were just left over wood pieces from a doll house I had made.
Inside of box.
I painted the inside white and covered the bottom with a piece of red felt. I used some skewers from the kitchen, cut them and glued them in with hot glue to keep everything straight. I started him off with a few little treasures like foreign money, shells and rocks.
I made a burlap pocket on the inside top and put some black leather string around that, to make it look more male. I also wrote him this little poem and put it on the inside which he can remove.
All finished!
All I had to do now was purchase a lock and key which I added to the front. He loved it!!

Thanks! Yes, I know that boys like to hide things from their siblings!
