With another ugly space to disguise - It was chicken wire and fake foliage to the rescue again. Watch how I create a flower wall in my kitchen!
A very ugly space I think you'll agree. Don't yet have a budget for a full kitchen makeover. I do however have chicken wire and fake flowers to make something pretty to look at until I win the Lottery.

Out with the chicken wire- which can be cut with sharp kitchen scissors. Mind the spiky edges! I tacked the wire onto the wall with U staples.
I clipped the stalks off the fake flowers leaving just an inch or two to attach to chicken wire.
I cut the bit next to the mirror off at the end as the balance looked off to me.
The large leaves filled in the gaps quickly. I get 12 on Ebay for ÂŁ1.45
Here is the detail close up. How pretty?
I am done for now but I may well add fairy lights later on. Now it's not such an ugly space after all! I Hope you like it.
Suggested materials:
  • Chicken wire   (Screwfix ÂŁ10 for 10 metre roll)
  • U staples   (poundshop)
  • Fake Flowers and leaves   (Ebay (from 10p each))

Shades of Hildy from Trading Spaces on HGTV years ago. Don't you worry about the grease from the kitchen?

Don't they get awfully dusty plus greasy? I think the painted chicken wire is enough of texture.

    Thank you Dixiemelody!

  • I have a Huge mirror in my bathroom that is kinda funked up at the top. This idea of yoirs for your ugly space is an outstanding idea!! I can't wait. (I was thinking of a frame or hanging fake potted plants, this combines the two for me!). Thanks! I will try to remember to take some pictures.
