Memory T-Shirt Quilt

I've started my second Memory t-shirt quilt.
A block using a few of the smaller emblems.
I made each block 18" square.
And each block includes a piece of one of the tees.
This one not quite finished.
I'm doing them in a stained glass effect.
The stained glass uses a one inch strip of black fabric to join smaller blocks inside the larger 18" block.
Taking a 1/4 inch seam that is fold back and press back towards the strip. Leaving 1/2 inch of the 1 inch fabric visible in the block.
Each block will be quilted and the quilted blocks will all be pieced together with a QAYG method that will also leave the same 1/2 inch fabric around each 18 inch block.
I tried to not cut any of the emblems up and just work each block around the emblem from the shirt.
Another bloack.
Another block.
The blocks all layed out. They may not actually end up put together just like this but I think they are going to look really nice.

Did you stretch out the t-shirt to fit, and how did you get them to stay?
