I went to the thrift store yesterday. I never spend much, but always look for something that can become a cheap craft!
I don't need another chalkboard, but I loved the frame! So, for $2, I made a nifty frame for pics and such.
This is the chalkboard. No need for it, plus the finish isn't that great any longer.
The first thing I did was remove the hardware and the chalkboard.

Since the room I planned to put this in is darker wood, I gave it a couple of coats of very watered down paint. I used Apple Barrel Burnt Umber acrylic paint, about 5 parts water to one part paint.
Next, I used my trusty ArtDeco white chalk paint and and dry brushed it. I love this look and use it quite often.
Once the paint dried, I measured 3 - 3 inch segments, and marked them on the backside of the frame.
I added a line of Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue. I love this glue! It's the best!
I let the glue get a little tacky, then put 3 pieces of twine down. I wanted to keep them straight and taut while the glue dried, so I taped the twine down.
Once the glue was completely dry, I removed the tape and cut the twine.
Finished! The card was made and sent to me this week by my most precious friend, Sandy. It was pretty much the inspiration for this. Because I do indeed thank God for the people in these pictures! ( My kids and their kids ❤️)
