Wood Garland

I realize this isn't a mind blowing, life changing project, but it's one of those "why buy it if you can make it".....

I love changing out garlands on my mantle or mirrors or even furniture pieces. It adds texture and character.

I always save my wood scraps. I used a couple of 2×4's and deconstructed chair pieces. You can use dowels or really anything you can drill a hole through.

I used a chop saw to cut up pieces because I'm comfortable with it but you can use any saw for this.

I always over estimate but I'll find another use for the pieces or just make another garland to give away😊

I then used a drill bit to make the holes. The players help stabilize the dowel pieces so they didn't spin when I was drilling through.

I soaked the pieces in coffee overnight to get a darker color. This was easier and cleaner than staining the pieces.

I had some old wooden beads on hand so I used some of those too.

I used twine to string my garland. Here's a tip, dip the end into hot candle wax a couple times and it will thread through super easy with no fraying.

I have alot of white in my house so I really like the warmth that this wood garland gives.

I think it goes well with my spring mantle. I also think it would look great with a "coastal" look too. Or hanging vertical from a window or post......

Hello! Is there any thing you can tell me about the wonderful white scalloped mantle skirt? My mantle is too thin and could use dome enhancements like this. Was it a diy project or purchased item?
