DIY Winter Marquee

I love the warm glow of a pretty marquee sign, and I wanted to create one that I could use over the holidays and keep up throughout the winter months.
I opted for a black, white and gold colour scheme, so that it wouldn't be too holiday specific and look out of place once all the other holiday decorations were put away.
I started with a canvas, some gold scrapbook paper, and 2 strings of white lights. First I painted the canvas in a simple black and white stripe pattern. Then, I used my wooden letters (purchased at the dollar store) to trace the letters for "Let It Snow".
Then, I cut out the letters and glued them in place on the canvas.
I then used a drill to make tiny holes through the gold letters, where I wanted to lights to poke through. Here is a picture of the back of the canvas.
Here's a close up of the letters with the lights.
And here is the finished sign. The pictures don't fully capture the warm glow against the glittery gold letters, but it looks amazing during the day and especially at night. To see more, check out my blog :)
